Ministries - Support Teams

The job of the Finance Team is to identify, perfect, and manage the finance system for the congregation. The finance system is the processes of raising, managing, and dispersing the finances so that the mission and vision of the congregation can be achieved.

The Bible speaks frequently about money and wealth and emphasizes the importance of generous giving, wise investment, debt management, prudent fiscal oversight, and appropriate attitude.  ....Whatever income and expense is generated by the church is ultimately for the work of ministry.

The Main Tasks of the Finance Committee:
  • Provide financial direction for the congregation and regularly report to the vision team and to individual members.
  • Recommend an annual budget to support the mission and ministry of the church.
  • Develop plan for the annual funding program to ensure that the financial needs of the church are met.
  • Arrange for the annual audit of church financial records.
Members of the Team:
  • chairperson
  • pastor
  • lay member of the annual conference
  • chairperson of the Vision Team
  • chairperson staff/pastor-parish relations committee
  • representative of the trustees (selected by the trustees)
  • lay leader
  • financial secretary
  • treasurer
  • church business administrator
At Emmanuel, each of our Ministry Teams are provided a budget for the entire year.  Those budgets are reviewed by the Finance Team and forwarded to the Vision Team for approval each year.  We've found that team budgets empower each team to perform their ministry efficiently while removing the red tape of waiting for approval of funds.
